Did you know a six year old can have mono?

We have reached the stage in the child's mono where he has stopped falling asleep at the drop of a hat and running a high fever every night. His appetite is slowlymreturning, though he remains three pounds down from last Monday, and his "taste buds are turned off." we have bursts of creative energy (fleets of paper airplanes in gorgeous marbled colored construction paper, pillow forts, robot costumes made of Grandma's airmail boxes.) But the tears, they come on fast and strong. Naps are not fought, emotions are tender, tantrums are not just possible, but likely. Yesterday morning thins seemed rosy. The Mister and I momentarily wondered if we shouldn't have encouraged the grands to come from Michigan after all, and have walked with our respective grad school cohort-mates at commencement. That was short lived, thanks to the discovery of a booger graveyard on the arms of our couch and the subsequent melt down....
