Mulberries.

The plan had been to make jam from the fruit of the tree out front.

But another storm yesterday knocked so many berries loose, and the birds were having a field day this morning.

As of Friday afternoon, there were a great many unripe berries yet to be pick / shake from the tree.... so perhaps I'll have an opportunity for more berries later and with these above, I think I'll try this delectable looking mulberry cornmeal muffin recipe and freeze them for later eating. Ziggy, on day two of a viral bug that's wreaking havoc on his GI tract, is currently unable to eat much. As he is a big fan of the muffin, and helped with the picking of the berries, it seems kindest to hold them for him, perhaps as a car treat on our way to Michigan later in the month.
